Paver Cleaning, Sanding and Sealing in West Palm Beach

Clean, sand and seal: $1,000 to $2,500 for a typical driveway

Pavers are the default driveway and pool deck surface across Palm Beach County, and they look great for about two years before the joints wash out, the color fades, and mildew and rust settle in. Cleaning and sealing resets the clock and, done every few years, keeps them looking new indefinitely.

The process

  1. Clean. Pre-treat organic growth and stains, then surface clean to lift dirt, mildew, oil and old failing sealer. Rust from irrigation or furniture gets a dedicated treatment.
  2. Dry. Pavers must be fully dry before sealing, which usually means sealing is a second visit or late in the day after a morning clean.
  3. Re-sand joints with polymeric sand, swept in and compacted, then misted to activate so the joints lock.
  4. Seal with the finish you chose, applied evenly so there is no blotching or white haze. Two coats where the pavers are porous.

Choosing a sealer

Water-based sealers are low odor, breathable and the usual choice for pool decks. Solvent-based sealers give the deepest wet look and the hardest film. Both come in natural and gloss. The crew will tell you which suits your pavers and your use; a pool deck that gets wet all summer needs a non-slip additive, and we include it.

Stripping bad sealer

If a previous sealer has gone white, hazy or is peeling, it has to be stripped before new sealer goes down. That is more labor and is quoted separately after we see it. Do not let anyone seal over a failed coat.

Paver Cleaning & Sealing questions

How often do pavers need to be sealed?

In Palm Beach County pavers need re-sealing every 2 to 3 years, sooner on pool decks and sun-exposed driveways where UV breaks the sealer down faster.

What's the difference between a wet look and natural finish?

A wet-look sealer darkens the pavers and adds gloss, which brings out the color. A natural finish protects without changing the look. Both stabilize the joint sand and resist stains; it comes down to preference, and we can show samples on your own pavers.

Why are weeds and ants in my paver joints?

The joint sand has washed out or was never polymeric. Re-sanding with polymeric sand and sealing locks the joints so weeds, ants and washout stop.

Most jobs are scheduled within the week and finished in a single visit.
